We as Te Tai Hauaauru make a real effort to connect and awhi each other. Since the start of the year we have managed to come together twice. My bad I forgot to send through an update from the first hui in February, this was held in Whanganui and we are for ever thankful to our hosts at the Alexander Heritage  and Research Library for their awesome awhi and manaaki to our little Rōpū, its great to meet new kaimahi and hear about what the haps are at each of our places of mahi, be it the good, the bad and the really!!! This was also an opportunity to see how we can awhi and manaaki Jas & Sandy in their planning for Hui a Tau 2026.

Our next hui was held in Papaioea, once again great food, whanaungatanga and general hilarity was held by all. It was great to have Tangimeriana join us from Te Matau ā Maui, we had some really awesome korero about the use of various kupu in our work places and how we are all dealing with the challenges that can occur there. It was great that Huatahi was also able to join us as she is enjoying retirement. It was good getting to hear the perspectives of our rangatahi within our rohe around libraries and mahi within libraries.  It was also an opportunity to look at succession planning moving forward. We discussed hui-a-tau in Whanganui, our highs and lows and sharing of ideas for Matariki/Puanga and te wiki o te reo Māori.

I highly encourage you all to see how you can come together even online to support each other in your rohe. We have made this happen by accessing the putea allocated by Te Rōpū Whakahau each year for rohe to come together, all you need is to have a bit of plan and send a request through to Ngā Kaiwhakahau requesting access to this putea, you can use it for kai, help with travel, room hire, in my entire time on Ngā Kaiwhakahau (which has been a while) we have never turned anyone down when they have asked for this.

When we come together a standing item for us is figuring out when and how we are going to next meet!
