Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The Library seeks an enthusiastic Manager to provide excellent leadership and coaching for a diverse and passionate library team, ensuring that customer satisfaction levels and service targets are reached and maintained. You will lead and identify areas for potential improvements for on campus and online engagement for the Engagement and Learning Support team and work across the library and wider organisation as needed to implement solutions. You will be passionate about professionally developing team members and will lead learning and development initiatives aimed at improved technological capability of the team. You will successfully collaborate with colleagues and providers to deliver great customer service and achieve operational objectives. Holding good communication and time management skills are a must, as you will always have more than one task on the go at any given time.
Mōu | Who You Are
Naturally, you will have a practical, empathetic ‘can do’ leadership approach and a passion for delivering quality online and on campus services in an academic library. To be successful in this role you will ideally have the following:
extensive experience in managing a large team involved in the delivery of library services, space, and facilities
- demonstrated experience in managing change
- demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovations, action plans, strategies and procedures
- knowledge and understanding of current issues in academic librarianship and trends in tertiary education, especially student success, learning environments, marketing and evaluation
- demonstrated project management and planning skills
- excellent leadership and people management skills, including effective management and motivation of large teams
- excellent personal organisational skills
- good systems and technology skills
- sound financial management experience.

You will work alongside a diverse professional Library team who provide a range of services, resources and expertise that support undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching, and that enhance world leading research and innovation. They do this through the provision of information resources; reference and information services; digital literacy programmes; e-learning support and academic liaison; research support including repositories; Māori and Pacific support and through our heritage collections.
