We are seeking a self-motivated and achievement-focused Kaitakawaenga Maori to work with our Library customers by providing relevant services and public programmes and to identify future needs and opportunities for services in collaboration with the community. The Kaitakawaenga will also work with Library colleagues by assisting with bicultural development and learning across the Libraries network and to identify future needs and opportunities for services to our community.

This highly rewarding role involves assisting community libraries with the provision of Māori resources, programmes and services in conjunction with the Pou Kohikohinga Māori and by supporting the Kaiwhakahaere Ratonga Māori on a number of projects to enhance service and programme design and to contribute to delivery of bicultural plan objectives.

Experience in developing, building and enhancing positive relationships is important in this role. Competence in te Reo Māori, exceptional interpersonal skills including communicating confidently with individuals and groups, the ability to inspire and enthuse others, and an outstanding level of organisational and administrative skills are highly desirable.

The minimum requirement for this position is a tertiary qualification. Competence in te reo and tikanga Maori is essential to support the Library to deliver programmes and services and to deliver on the objectives of our Strategic Bicultural Plan. Experience working in a library environment or with Maori communities is desired.

Salary: $28.44 – $34.15 per hour
Hours of work: Part- time – 22.5 hours per week
