INELI-Oceania is a new and innovative leadership development program for emerging library leaders from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
The program is primarily funded through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and through generous financial and in-kind support of a number of our partner organisations includingALIA (Australian Library and Information Association); LIANZA (Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa); and NSLA (National and State Libraries of Australasia.). Other organisations offering sponsorship for the program include the National Library of Australia, National Library of New Zealand, the State Library of Queensland, the State Library of Victoria and Public Libraries Victoria Network as well as Yarra Plenty Regional Library and Auckland City Libraries.
Participants of INELI-Oceania will be brought together in a program designed to develop their effectiveness as leaders and innovators able to contribute significantly to the future development of public libraries in the region.
The program will commence in July 2014 and finish in June 2016. Over the two-year period participants will build their skills in leading, innovating and collaborating through participation in:
· Two Convenings – the first to be held in Australia, the second in New Zealand.
· An online learning community where participants will engage in learning modules, group work, and an action learning project.
· Mentoring and Coaching – all participants will be supported by a group mentor who is a senior library executive and an experienced learning facilitator.
