E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā karangatanga maha, tēnā koutou, tēnā tātou katoa. Each year LIANZA offered a scholarship worth one thousand dollars as the LIANZA National Council’s commitment to tangata whenua studying librarianship and mātauranga Māori. In recent years this scholarship was not utilised as much as envisioned.
In 2019 all LIANZA scholarships were reviewed. The partnership between Te Rōpū Whakahau and LIANZA Council led to the decision to re-purpose rather than to stop offering this scholarship. The newly-named Rua Mano Grant aims to encourage and support both LIANZA and Te Rōpū Whakahau members to strengthen their knowledge of te reo Māori, tikanga and Mātauranga Māori by providing a subsidy to attend the Te Rōpū Whakahau Hui-a-tau.
