Ahakoa he iti he pounamu: 2023 Hui ā-tau!
Although it is small, it is pounamu – was certainly a fitting theme for this year’s hui-a-tau in the heart of te Tai Poutini, the home of pounamu.
This precious stone was weaved throughout our Hui ā-tau at Arahura Marae and by the end of our time there we learned about, appreciated, and invested, in this special taonga. The opportunity to wananga together is always a highlight of our year and being together learning about the whakapapa, history and kōrero of Ngāti Waewae beside their beautiful awa Arahura, was an incredible experience.
We were also happy to have our Whiria te Tāngata cohort come along this year, some of whom enjoyed their first marae experience!
