Auckland Museum is a much-loved culture and heritage organisation at the heart of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its world-class collections, developing and sharing engaging content through its galleries, exhibition, events, educational programmes and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories. We are Auckland’s home of commemoration as well as the country’s oldest research institution and a major tourist destination.
The Senior Collection Manager, Documentary Heritage leads the team of Collection Managers and Collection Technicians responsible for the Museum’s Manuscripts, Museum Archives, Photography, Art, Born Digital, Ephemera, Sound Archives, Publications, Rare Books, Maps, Plans and Serials collections. Managed by the Head of Documentary Heritage, this key role oversees the processes relating to acquisitions, cataloguing, loans, and public and internal access, to ensure their long-term preservation and active use. This full-time, permanent role requires someone with extensive collections management expertise and proven ability to manage, train and supervise staff, as well as engender enthusiasm and commitment.
