Rotorua proved to be an excellent venue for hui ā tau. My highlights included:
- local presenters sharing their experience and expertise, in particular the challenges of working in partnership with mainstream organisations to achieve shared partnership outcomes. This kaupapa continues to evolve, improving with a commitment to continuous improvement
- learning about the continuing legacy of the late Mauriora Kingi and how his work within Rotorua District Council is further embedded into the organisation
- Te Taonui ā Kupe (James) Rickard and his work as a master carver and teacher. Hui ā tau provided a unique opportunity to hear his personal experience, influences, and wisdom regarding taonga whakairo.
- Recognising excellence and celebrating with recipients of the Robin Hakopa Te Reo Māori Award; Meri Mygind Wahine Toa Award, and recent graduates.
