As nominations are being invited from a number of groups, please note that any nomination made will not necessarily result in the appointment of the particular person.
LIAC consists of up to six members appointed by Minister Tremain after consultation with the Minister of Māori Affairs. LIAC must have regard to recent national and international developments in library and information services. It must also have regard to the means of promoting collaboration amongst institutions in protecting, preserving and promoting access to information including documentary heritage and mātauranga Māori. Members must have knowledge and qualifications in one or more of the following areas:
- public governance
- library and information requirements in the tertiary sector
- modern learning environments
- information technology sector issues
- information management
- matauranga Māori as it relates to the library and information sector (including archives and museums) and Māori language and culture
Candidates from the South Island are particularly welcome.
